Charity The Winner After Football Match

Pub Teams with the chequeRIVAL pub football teams have put aside their differences to score for South Tyneside charity Cancer Connections.

Jarrow pubs The Robin Hood and The Crown and Anchor have raised £4,939.20 for Cancer Connections in South Shields over the last couple of years by playing matches.

Ray Wilkinson, from The Robin Hood team, and Derek Baxter, from the Crown and Anchor, handed over a cheque for £2,058 after their latest game ended in a draw.

Ray said: “The Robin Hood and Crown and Anchor’s 1960s teams continued their long rivalry in this latest charity game. The game ended up a 2-2 draw, with the Robin Hood dominating until the last 10 minutes.”
